Injecting with the COPAXONE® Pre-filled Syringe1

COPAXONE® (glatiramer acetate injection): Tips for injecting manually with the pre-filled syringe

The injection experience is different for everyone. It is important that you make it work for you so that you can stay on track with your therapy. Rotating injection sites may keep your skin healthy and may help reduce your risk of injection site reactions. Always follow your health care provider's recommendations.

  • COPAXONE® should be injected when it is at room temperature.
  • Follow the 20-minute rule. Always be sure to take the COPAXONE® Pre-filled syringe out of the refrigerator at least 20 minutes before you inject. Injecting when COPAXONE® is at room temperature can help avoid discomfort.
  • Apply a warm compress to the injection site (with a cloth barrier between the warm compress and bare skin) for 5 minutes before cleaning the site and injecting. This may help relax the tissue.
  • Be sure to follow proper injection technique. Refer to the full Prescribing Information for complete Instructions for Use.
    • When injecting manually, insert the needle at a 90° angle. If unable to pinch 2" of skin, insert the needle at about a 45° angle
  • Remember to inject the solution slowly; it should take at least 10 seconds.
  • Use a cold pack (with a cloth barrier between the cold pack and bare skin) on the injection site for up to 1 minute after the injection.
